What type of napkins are you using? Cloth napkins are best used in a formal and more elegant dinners. Save the paper ones for casual events. Check and verify that the napkin fold suits the type of napkin you are using. Some folds are easier with a certain type.

If you are going to choose cloth napkins for folding, find napkins that have cotton weaving or linen napkins for the best folding results. These are the types of napkins that can hold a fold and a crease, if needed. To help your linen or cloth napkins hold their shape, you can also starch them lightly with spray starch or hairspray.
